Provide care, health services, shelter, and rehabilitation for the purpose of adoption, to all animals in our charge.  Animals not appropriate for adoption will be provided continual care, health services, shelter, and other care specific to their needs.

Who We Are$

We are a Not-For-Profit, 501(c)(3), Illinois licensed animal shelter for horses.  We do, on occasion, take on other animals in desperate need of help.  The cats and kittens that we have available for adoption were all literally hours away from euthanasia.  The rabbits were dumped by their breeder once they were no longer useful to him/her.  

Bertell Farms, NFP  is the home to 13 Horses,  2 Rabbits, 31 Cats, 3 Dogs,   15 Chickens, and 2 Starlings.  Some are currently available for adoption, while others are recuperating and rehabilitating and need further evaluation.

We are operated purely on a volunteer basis and can only survive through the generous donations of animal lovers, like you and me.  Please see our Wish List.  If anyone is interested in learning more about horses and horse care and would be willing to offer a hand, the hooves would appreciate it!  Please email or call with any questions.
